Black Friday Shopping

On Thanksgiving day, I ate a lot
Calories were a concept that I forgot
The next day was Black Friday, a day to shop
But as I was about to go, I had to stop!

As I said on line 1, I overate
So shopping for clothes didn't seem that great
As I struggled to zip up my too-tight jeans
I thought the timing of Black Friday was kinda mean!

Black Friday should be earlier you see!
Wednesday would be good; it works for me!
Shopping after people consume a whole bird
Definitely needs to be early or deferred

Next year maybe they'll take my advice
Or maybe I'll just stop before my third slice
Before or after, Black Friday's still fun
Now I am going to go for a run!

No Sugar November...what!?

November is known as a month of not shaving
But because hairy girls don't really get the boys raving
Leah and I decided sugar was the thing we would stop
That idea turned out to be a flop

At first (Nov. 1), we did really great
No cookies, no pie, no candy, no cake
But after a while (Nov. 3), things got tough
All I could think was I wanted cream puffs

We started making compromises (Nov. 4), such as peanut butter was okay
But then that led to poptarts, honey, and yogurt parfaits
Then I saw Mochi balls (Nov. 6) and I couldn't resist
And I knew No Sugar November now ceased to exist

We fought a good fight, but we didn't finish the race
And ended our plight in the throes of disgrace
However, this November I am still trying to be a healthier person
When getting donuts this morning, I only got one!

Sugar is the best; it is a treasure from above
When I see it or eat it, my heart is filled with love
So this November, I will cut down, but still appreciate
The taste of sugar, which in general, is GREAT!

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

There is a new movie about the birds of the night
It will feel so real, like I am also in flight.
I hope to see it in dimension three,
And maybe I will try to sleep in a tree

It looks like Lord of the Rings with birds,
So totally awesome, in other words!
It is about owls who are brave and strong,
They go on a journey that is dangerous and long.

They fly as long as they can, and they are halfway there.
They are scared, and hopeless and filled with despair.
I won't ruin the end, but it looks so cool,
It is
The Legend of The Guardian: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

Most Boring Class Ever

I am in the most boring class ever
Each day seem to take more than forever
It is a most ambitious endeavor
To stay awake in this class that ends NEVER

Pretending to pay attention is a charade
As my boredom is clearly displayed
And each student is secretly afraid
That participation is part of his grade

And as minutes of my life slip away
The more I begin to dismay
But then class finally ends, Hooray!
Until I remember I have it on Thursday :(

Can You Hear Me Now?

This weekend I have to bemoan,
Because I did not have a phone.
My texts aren't torrential,
But still my cell is essential!
So lately I have felt very alone.

As this new phone will be number nine,
My trust in Sprint has begun to decline.
I hate the Palm Pre,
And it seems to hate me
So this break I will take as a sign!

I think other services it is time to explore,
One option I could choose is T-Mobile and get more.
Verizon's Never stop working for me?
Or my world, delivered! from AT&T?
I just know the "Now Network" is one to ignore

As I end, I offer one piece of advice:
Be careful with your cellular device.
When you use your cell,
Be sure to treat it well.
I didn't and I now pay the price.

Accident

Driving is not my strongest skill
Some say for me to drive is for me to kill
Today I needed to get to CR
And for that journey I needed a car

My older sister kindly volunteered her Saturn
And I proceeded to follow my unhealthy pattern
As I backed up, I heard a noise and was very disturbed
To find my sister's car hanging over the curb

If that weren't bad enough, this will hurt your soul
The scraping I heard was car vs. pole
I pulled the car forward and hoped for best
But as I looked at the car, it was as I had guessed

A nice yellow scratch now adorns the blue door
And tragic for me, it wasn't there before.
But my sister, whose awesome, just rolled her eyes
She told me, "I can't say I am very surprised..."

Besides the garage, this pole, and two or three other cars,
To call me a bad driver is simply off par
Plus, we made it to CR by God's good grace,
So let me know if you need me to drive you someplace!

My roommmate's poem

My roommate left me this poem today...I thought it was very nice...

Untitled
by Leigh Sires

I will be back on Monday
But what time, do you say?

I simply do not know
Except that we'll see each other fo sho.

I am such a bad poet,
But you already know it

And now I will end with a bang!

Sadly the last line was lost and will never be recovered...still, pretty good for an amateur!

I am a gurl (spelled with a U)
Writing poetry is a fun thing to do

When I am sad, one thing sounds appealing
And that is poeming slash blogging my feelings

I thought and I thought about how to unite
These two different hobbies, because in each I delight

I finally decided on an online diary
But how I would do this became my enquiry

I searched and I searched for the perfect host
And on blogger I decided to post my first post

I am Poetry Gurl and poems I compose
I hope you enjoy my wit and my prose

But now I must bid you, my reader, goodbye
(I heard Leah's birthday is in August, and not July)
